Multisensory Learning

Science
PLTW
A PLTW program is a series of modules, units, or courses available for elementary, middle, and high schools, respectively. Our comprehensive programs also include in-depth professional development for teachers, live classroom support, and more. PLTW offers five programs: PLTW Launch, designed for grades K-5; PLTW Gateway, designed for grades 6-8; and PLTW Computer Science, PLTW Engineering, and PLTW Biomedical Science, each designed for grades 9-12.
STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics — in an interdisciplinary and applied approach. Rather than teach the four disciplines as separate and discrete subjects, STEM integrates them into a cohesive learning paradigm based on real-world applications.
Music
Holomua's music program uses the Orff Schulwerk Process, which uses the following music techniques:
• Sing, chant, use rhymes, clap, dance, keep a beat on ANYTHING!
• Use poems, rhymes, games, dances and songs, accompanied by body percussion, drums, shakers, bells, scrapers, xylophones, etc.
• Non-competitive atmosphere where one of the rewards is making good music with others
• Students become sensitive listeners and considerate participants

As part of the Grade 6 health curriculum, the following topics will be covered in the fourth quarter:
- Endocrine System - Objective: Students will be able to describe the endocrine systems in processes involving cells, organs, and other bodily functions.
- Puberty - Objective: Students will be able to explain body changes.
- Reproductive System - Objective: Students will be able to describe the reproductive organs and their functions and explain the fertilization process.
- Personal Health and Wellness - Objective: Students will be able to explain the responsibilities for taking care of their bodies and making healthy choices.
